Importance of Separator
Separator enables Lithium-ion flow through the electrolyte and move back and forth between cathode and anode of the Lithium-ion Battery (LiB) while preventing electrical short circuits.
Since well-distributed and finely tuned micropores within the film are of great importance, separator films are currently thinning to reach about 5 micrometers to maximize energy density.
These extremely thin films require high tensile strength, heat resistance, and carburizing strength. By meeting these complicated requirements, the separator film plays a pivotal role in the safety of LiB and has a substantial impact on its overall performance and lifespan.
Therefore, to produce high-quality films, stable production systems and facilities with innovative cost-reduction technologies are gaining attention.
